Taking our love of coffee a step further and educating others as we did
Wakelins Coffee was established in 2010 by specialists from within the coffee and hospitality industry, between them have over 120 years first-hand experience.
At the time the UK coffee market was increasing both in the drink at home and dining out market. This gave incredible leverage and profit opportunities to the major brands, in whose best interests it was to fuel the mystic about coffee and the true cost of the wonderful beverage.
The ethos then and still our prime objective is to provide quality coffee, expert advice, professional/ friendly service and competitive prices.
Industry experts with a personal service
Gaynor and Ian both founders, commenced trading at Melton Mowbray and built up a loyal following of regular customers, who visited on a weekly basis to replenish stocks, try the new coffees, ask for advice and have a friendly chat.
The business expanded with increasing numbers of trade customers visiting and we now operate across retail outlets, delis, leisure sector, restaurants, and hotels, who appreciate the professional and personal service, as well as the great tasting coffee. In 2017 we decided to move away from the weekly market and develop our business through online presence, referrals, targeted advertising and face to face contact with events, presentations and networking.
We are proud of our customer and trade loyalty and always ensure that we are available to answer any questions, offer advice, and particularly for our trade customers, react quickly when needed. South Kesteven Council awarded a 5* Food Hygiene rating in December 2019
Put simply, it's remarkable coffee at competitive prices, with a service that makes you feel special
Our coffee represents some of the finest blends from around the world. Apart from our core range we seek out speciality coffees from smaller independent growers. What’s common to all, is the stringent quality controls in place, covering environmental and social impact. These coffee beans are expertly grown, picked with the upmost of care, and transported to maintain the product in prime condition.
We work very closely with our UK roaster who uses a process known as convection roasting. The beans are not simply spun around inside of a drum while roasted, which would lead to uneven roasting and can greatly affect the taste of your coffee. The convection process roasts the beans evenly in a state of the art Loring machine. It gently removes the chaff which is produced during the roasting process. Convection roasting uses only hot air to roast the green coffee beans, which controls heat and airflow until the optimum flavour is achieved then quickly air cooling to ensure no flavour loss. This process is environmentally friendly too!
This gives you the confidence that every purchase will provide a consistently good smooth tasting coffee that is not bitter.
What our customers say
Just some of our happy customers
I've recommended Wakelins to all my friends. They deliver my coffee every week, without fail and have even rushed through orders for me when I've needed them. Great coffee. Great Service.
I was given a cafetiere for Christmas last year and had no idea what to do with it! The team at Wakelins explained how to use it to get the best from my coffee beans and I've never looked back. The coffee is delicious.
I've known Gaynor and Ian for years and used to collect my coffee from her market stall. The quality of the coffee is amazing and the price is very reasonable. My customers love their coffee, which is great for business.
